Mills Reef Winery Reserve Syrah 2014 Gimblett Gravels Hawke's Bay
Quite an alluring and sensual bouquet for Syrah with soft red berry fruits laced with sweet oak spices, vanilla and mild toasty qualities; juiced red plum, raspberry and a hint of English fruitcake or pudding. On the palate - dry, fruity, firm and fresh; flavours of plum and black fruits then old raspberry jam and white pepper; a touch of sweet meat and soft mushroom, moderate oak and plenty of chalky oak tannins add texture and length; medium+ complexity, balanced and well made.
