Atalaya ‘Laya’ Garnacha Tintorera Monastrell 2016, Almansa, Spain
Youthful bouquet with a strong core of
fruit, oak and complexity; aromas and flavours of black currant, black plum,
crushed dark berries and bitter chocolate. Plenty of dark spices of toasty oak.
On the palate – plush, fresh, juicy and fruit core; dry on the finish with a
warm alcohol note – all good. Plenty of youthful grippy tannins and moderate
acidity add loads of texture against a backdrop of bark berry fruit flavours;
generous chalky texture and length. Decant for service. Best from 2020 through
2030.
