Villa Maria 'Gimblett Gravels' Grenache 2014 Hawke's Bay
Dark, inky purple colour with bright pink rim. Aromas and flavours of dark plums, black currant and blue berry - vibrant, fresh and distinctively earthy; medium+ wood tones. A noticeably dry wine, quite firm medium+ tannins and firm youthful acidity. The flavours of red berry fruits and plums is strong and adds both flavour and weight; this wine is very much in the first stages of development and requires a least 2 years in a quiet cellar to settle and begin to integrate. If you can wait put a few bottles away and be rewarded from 2018 onwards.
