Wairau River

Wairau River Family Estate Pinot Gris 2015
Fruity, vibrant, crisp and varietal with aromas of yellow apple and sweet pear with honeysuckle and spice, quite generous and giving of personality. On the palate - just dry with a little sweetness, medium+ acidity and alcohol; lots of fruit flavours and texture with some phenolic moments back palate. Overall a balanced and well made example. Drink now and through 2016.

Wairau River Family Estate Albarino 2015
Quite a fruity bouquet with a gentle almost clam varietal signature - a mix of soft white pepper laced citrus fruit, then peach and some apple moments; quite floral and mineral too then a gentle but noticeable dried herb moment - actually adds complexity. On the palate - dry, fruity and with lots of texture; the transition from fruity to citrus and sour is classic and part of what this variety does on the palate; medium+ acidity, moderate alcohol and weight and a lengthy fruit centred finish, great balance and well made - a very New World expression. Drink now and through 2017.
