Coal Pit

Coal Pit Rosé 2016 Gibbston Central Otago
Super fresh, fruity, floral and expressive with aromas of red cherry and cranberry, a hint of pink grapefruit and all laced with a mineral undertone. On the palate - a dry wine with flavours of red berry fruits that reflect the bouquet, some stony mineral moments, very fine tannins and medium+ acidity. A wine for drinking now and through 2017; balanced and well made, calm yet expressive finish.

Coal Pit 'Tiwha' Pinot Noir 2015 Gibbston Central Otago
Fragrant and quite fruity with darker red cherry fruits and plum, undergrowth and a light whole bunch savory suggestion; moderate new oak influences, quite complex and engaging. On the palate - fruity and dry with plenty of texture and soil signatures with rocky, clay mineral suggestions, vibrant core of fruit, medium tannins - quite silken, plenty of acidity and length. A tension filled young wine with plenty of appeal, very youthful structure, but with decent length and promise. Decant for service and cellar if possible. Best drinking from 2019 through 2025
