Babich

Babich Irongate Hawke's Bay Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc 2010
Nose: Sweet fruit and oak aromas with violets, black and red fruits, some date and plum, hints of chocolate. No mistaking the oak stamp.
5 Stars

Palate: Blackberry and plum flavors, spiced brown oak  flavors with cacao then violets and chunky oak. Balanced, dry and well made with medium+ length and complexity. After wine tasting for the day I came back to this wine - curious - and discovered that several hours of relaxation and subtle ingress of oxygen opened this wine's potential into more complex messages. The finished increased in length and intensity and the complexities revealed a wine built for some ageing yet - minimum 5 years.
