Clearview Estate

Clearview Estate Winey ‘Old Olive Block’ 2015 Hawkes Bay
Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, Malbec and Merlot
Ripe, dark red berry fruits led bouquet with blackberry and black currant, herbaceous with a hay and baked capsicum layer, sweet tobacco, dark oak spices of clove and vanilla, plum and even a note of chocolate – overall quite complex and very engaging. On the palate – full-bodied, rich, fruity, oaky and dry; a combination that fires well; firm youthful tannins, ripe berry fruit flavours, medium+ acidity and lengthy finish. Will take some time to integrate the various attributes of this wine with best drinking from 2020 through 2035 – if stored well.

Clearview Estate Winey ‘Enigma’ 2015 Hawkes Bay
Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec
Powerful bouquet with a floral and fruit led concentration – aromas of violets then plum, blackberry and boysenberry; dark spices from the kitchen cabinet, plenty of oak with a toasty and engaging presence; complex. On the palate – spicy, fruity, oaky, dry, flavourful with plums, violets, dark berries and cacao oak; plenty of tannins and acidity will carry this for some years along with the core of fruit. Drink now if decanted or from 2020 through 2035.
